1. 研究目的与意义

Ministry of education in china has launched a reform in college English education in 2003 and this measure has achieved a lot. However, problems still occurred in many cases, such as there is no certain line of demarcation between high school English and specific English; students are dissatisfied with their course design and their text books and the whole planning strategy of English education is still need to be improved. Being an English major, I have my understanding of our course design and the problems which need to be solved. Moreover, English has become a famous second language in china and it has a higher position in international communication, so I believe it is necessary to analysis the syllabus design of English education and finds a better method to let more people to acquire this language as effective as possible.

2. 研究内容和预期目标

by analyzing the two major aspects of english acquisition, eap (english for academic propose) and esp (english for specific purpose), considering the problems exists in modern english education, the research would present a general status of english teaching and try to find a way to break the limitation which can make english learning more effective and more interesting.

3. 国内外研究现状

The westernization of teaching method: Second language acquisition is also a major research field of applied linguistics. In narrow sense, it can be equal to applied linguistics and the basic theory of applied linguistics is linguistics. After 1960s because of transformation of focal point of linguistic and the change of methods of researching, many interdisciplinary subjects has occurred this can be further divided into three parts, constructivism method, functionalism method and cognitivism method. In a word, china pretends to use a more westernizer way to teaching English but it overlooks the differences between cultures and its complexity. This also become the reason for not having much achievements in SLA in china.

4. 计划与进度安排

Find relative information about the topic and make comparison to find the core part which i need for the essay. then foiiow the steps mentioned in outline, firstly give a general description ofcurrent status in english acquisition in china and of syllabus design. Then by compariing and analysing ESP and EAP,a conclusion would be made to point out the stress that should be focused on in SLA. Next, three major method of SLA would be taiked about for the final step. In the end, by conbining all the information, the method or lime light would be present.
