1. 研究目的与意义
with the development of economy and the progress of science and technology, the world has become an inseparable whole. communication between countries is also increasing close. countries development relies on the talents, while the talent cultivation cannot without education. therefore, people pay more attention to education and it#8217;s meaningful to the far-reaching development of the whole country.
the ways of family education plays a vital role in education. family education is a common concern of parents and society. in today#8217;s era, it has become an important issue that the whole world must solve and include to the overall planning. there are two different educational concepts between chinese and american families, which are caused by the different customs, life styles, social ideology and backgrounds. at the same time, that is the two different educational concepts directs to the vast difference in the ways of chinese and american education.
the thesis will contrastively analyze the conflicts emerging between chinese mothers and americanized daughters in the joy luck club, which represent the conflicts between chinese culture and american culture. by contrastively analyzing the conflicts between chinese and american cultures, on the one hand, we can get access to many different cultural aspects of america and also achieve a deeper understanding of chinese culture. on the other hand, as a global village, we may absorb the good elements from other countries and make sure of being more qualified for dealing with the conflicts of family education among different countries in order to promote the development of global culture.
2. 研究内容和预期目标
from the perspective of conceptual culture and combing with some intercultural communication theories, the thesis will contrastively analyze the conflicts emerging between chinese mothers and americanized daughters in the joy luck club. the focus of the thesis lays on the studies of the conflicts between mothers and daughters, especially the conflicts of family education, as well as analyzes the differences between the chinese traditional culture and american culture. meanwhile, by analyzing the conflicts of chinese and american family education, this thesis reveals that how these two cultures, chinese culture and american culture, have been developing from conflicts to coexistence. according to this, we can learn the essence of american education and achieve the suitable ways of family education for our own country.

3. 国内外研究现状
in recent years, many professors take part in the comparatively analyzing of differences of chinese and american education. domestic research on family education as early as 1982 by hang jingqiu: some domestic scholars put forward personal serious facts about the juvenile crime, the western family education, structure and function at this stage.
with the development of chinese education, analyzing the differences between chinese and western family education has become the inevitable trend.
liu jinping: (2005) put forward the methods and countermeasures through the comparison of traditional and western family education, the characteristics of modern family education, development trend and the analysis of the problems.
